Adidas London | Women's History Month #SHEBREAKSBARRIERS

For International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month Adidas London championed female visibility. They featured women who are working to address equality & representation in sports, music, creative and social industries.

On social media, Adidas London invited people to nominate women who deserve to be seen and to end Women’s History month Adidas London wanted to spotlight three women on their channel. The campaign was created to shine a light on women to help combat a lack of female visibility in sport, art, music, creativity and more.

The Power of Community

We were so overwhelmed by the number of nominations we received in such a short space of time and when we found that we were, in fact, one of the three women Adidas London wanted to spotlight it was all down to the power of our community and the people who champion the work we do every day.



⁣We’re so happy to be part of this campaign and that we get to share it with some of the girls who have been part of our programme - here’s to building up the next generation to confidently be themselves, always have the courage to act and the charisma to inspire us all. Here’s to girls raising their voice, skills and determination to be all that they can and for us to champion and see! ⁣⁣When she sees, she succeeds 🏆

Visibility is important to us because when we started Sisterhood we were about to graduate as graphic designers and start our careers; however when we sought out women within the industry - there was a serious decline of the number of women actually in the industry (34: 66) compared to the amount who were pursuing it within higher education (70:30) and the more senior positions hardly had many female representatives. Research also showed that this was true of many other career opportunities such as business, engineering, science etc.

Why raising more visibility for women-led businesses matters

"The fact is women continue to be a rising force in business. They are not only founding more businesses than ever before but doing so at twice the rate of men. According to The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2014, 200 million women globally have started businesses and by 2022, forecasts suggest that one billion women are set to enter the mainstream economy as employers, producers and entrepreneurs. Yet only 5% of print news stories on the topic of the Economy have a woman as a central focus, and online women aren't fairing any better through traditional media with just 26% of internet news, media and Twitter combined focus on women."

We are proud to have been part of this campaign to combat the lack of female visibility. At Sisterhood, we believe when you raise awareness of women who’ve made a difference to society and celebrating their success ensures there are more role models for girls and women. When she sees, she succeeds!

We believe that every girl should have the opportunity to find her voice and communicate what she cares about confidently and creatively and our job at Sisterhood is to celebrate, champion and get the word out about the positive changes these girls are making using their creativity.
